No picture on a second monitor? Check the input, cable and display mode before assuming the computer needs a hardware repair.

Start with the monitor

Confirm that the monitor is powered and its menu selects the HDMI or DisplayPort input actually connected. A no-signal message does not identify which device is faulty. Where possible, test the monitor with another working source. This helps distinguish the display itself from the computer, cable or settings. Record the results so you do not repeat the same checks unnecessarily.

Cables and adapters

Try a known-working cable and a direct connection without unnecessary hubs. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee video output: both the port and adapter must support it. Some adapters work in only one direction. Never force a plug into a damaged or loose connector. Check compatibility with your particular devices before purchasing a replacement adapter.

Windows display settings

Press Windows + P and choose Extend or Duplicate. Check whether the second screen appears in Display settings. If it is detected but the picture is unstable, try a lower supported refresh rate. Obtain drivers from the computer or graphics manufacturer rather than an unfamiliar download site. After changing settings, check whether the result persists when reconnecting the screen.

Help at your workspace

A fault involving a particular monitor, cable or dock may not be reproduced by testing the computer alone. Record every device model. We can arrange a visit in Vilnius: the €20–30 arrival fee covers travel only; work, parts and licences are agreed separately. The appointment is confirmed by phone according to address and availability.
