Compare connections

Remove the USB hub and connect directly. Try another port and a known-working accessory. A cable must support data, not just charging. Change one condition at a time so you can identify what affected the result.

Do not rush to format storage

If the drive contains important files, decline formatting or initialization prompts until the cause is understood. These actions can complicate recovery. Stop testing a drive that clicks, overheats or repeatedly disconnects. Our recovery service covers accidentally deleted files, not data from physically damaged SSDs or HDDs.

Check appropriate drivers

Printers and specialist devices may need a manufacturer driver. Match the exact model and supported operating system. A warning in Device Manager helps diagnosis but does not prove a broken port. Avoid random driver bundles.

When a connector needs inspection

If an accessory works elsewhere but one port fails with several working devices, arrange diagnosis. Do not force a loose or bent connector. A service check examines contacts and power before agreeing on repair.

Does one failed flash drive prove a bad port?
