Identify the pattern
Stick drift is an unwanted input while the stick is untouched. Note the direction and whether it happens consistently. Game settings or another connected controller can sometimes produce similar behaviour. A single incident does not establish a mechanical fault.
Compare games and controllers
Try another game or a menu that uses the stick. If available, compare a second controller under the same conditions. Avoid changing every setting at once. Record sensitivity and dead-zone settings first so that you can restore the original configuration.
Follow instructions for your model
