Recognise warning signs
A separating bottom cover, raised touchpad or keyboard area may indicate a swollen battery. A photograph cannot establish the cause: mechanical damage can also deform a case. Do not push panels back or tighten screws to close the gap.
Stop using and charging the laptop
If swelling is suspected, shut down and disconnect the charger if safe. Do not puncture, compress or flatten the battery, or force the case open. If the device smokes, hisses or becomes very hot, do not handle it; move away and seek emergency assistance.
Arrange safe delivery
Contact the service before travelling and describe the condition. Do not send a damaged battery as an ordinary parcel without checking carrier restrictions. Do not continue using the computer just to finish copying files. Mention any drop and whether deformation is increasing.
What replacement assessment involves
The technician checks the battery code, compatibility and possible case or touchpad damage. Kmvle, MB in Vilnius agrees the part and labour cost before replacement. Compressing a swollen battery is not a repair. Charging should be checked after replacement; operation without a battery depends on the model.
