Fan noise does not always mean a fault. Learn about PlayStation ventilation, different noises and when a service inspection makes sense.

When can noise be normal?

The cooling fan may speed up during a demanding game. Consider whether the sound changed suddenly or includes rattling, vibration or an overheating warning. If your console has a disc drive, note whether the noise coincides with disc reading. An audio recording alone may not identify the cause. Tell the technician whether it happens in menus as well as games.

Allow room for ventilation

Keep side and rear vents clear and avoid confined cabinets or long-pile carpet. Sony recommends at least 10 cm of clearance around each side of a PS5. Consult the manual for other models. Space behind a television can also trap warm air. After removing obstructions, observe whether operation improves, but do not ignore an overheating warning.

External cleaning and internal servicing

Turn the console off and disconnect power before external cleaning. Follow the model’s instructions and never spray liquid into openings. Internal disassembly and replacement of cooling materials are different from wiping the case. Console designs vary, so one servicing method should not be applied to every model. Do not press tools against the fan or force components to stop a mechanical noise.

When to contact MB Kmvle

Inspection is appropriate if the noise sounds mechanical, fan operation changes unusually or the console shuts down. Cleaning cannot resolve every fan, power or board fault. We accept game consoles for diagnosis in Vilnius and agree scope and price in advance. Tell us the model and whether multiple games trigger the issue. This helps guide the assessment.

Frequently asked questions

Is a loud fan always faulty?

No. Fans can be louder under load, but new unusual sounds deserve investigation.

Will cleaning make it silent?

No. Cooling systems and disc drives can produce sound in normal operation.

What if an overheating warning appears?

Stop playing, follow the on-screen instructions and check ventilation. Seek diagnosis if it recurs.
