Firmware / EFI recovery
- Firmware participates in initial startup. EFI terminology is more common for Intel Macs, while Apple silicon recovery differs. We select procedures for the specific model rather than applying one method to every Mac.
- An interrupted update may be followed by failure to start, a recovery symbol or a blank screen. These symptoms do not establish a firmware fault. We first distinguish power, display, storage and macOS issues.
- Compatible Apple silicon and T2 models may support DFU recovery using another Mac. We check connections and assess Revive first. This procedure revives firmware without erasing data.
- Restore erases data and returns the Mac to factory condition. We perform it only after explicit agreement. Backup may be unavailable on a Mac that will not start; we do not promise file preservation before Restore.
- For Intel Macs without T2, we assess model-specific EFI recovery options. DFU Revive is not a universal method for older Intel Macs. Soldering, programmer work or board repair requires a separate agreed estimate.
- Firmware recovery differs from regular macOS installation. If the issue is only the operating system, we offer the appropriate software service. Firmware procedures do not repair physical board or connector damage.
- The price is €40–80, often completed the same day. We confirm cost and timing after assessing the model and fault. Afterwards, we check startup and the ability to continue use or setup.
- Bring the Mac and charger to Savanorių pr. 40, Vilnius. Tell us about recent updates and power interruptions. The owner may need to sign in for activation; this service does not remove Activation Lock or device management restrictions.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
€40–80 for this service. Additional board repair and other work are agreed separately.
How long does it take?
Often the same day; exact timing is confirmed after inspection.
How do Revive and Restore differ?
Revive recovers firmware without erasing data. Restore erases data and returns factory settings, so it requires agreement.
Does it apply to all Intel Macs?
No. DFU Revive / Restore applies to Apple silicon and T2. Other Intel models require model-specific assessment.
Does a blank screen mean an EFI fault?
Not necessarily. Power, display, system or board faults can have similar symptoms.
Do you assess iMac firmware?
Yes, we assess the iMac model and suitable recovery options.
Does this remove Activation Lock?
No. It does not remove ownership or management restrictions. Owner sign-in may be needed.
Will macOS need reinstalling?
It depends on model and procedure. Restore may require installation or setup; we agree the scope beforehand.
