Matching USB-C shapes do not guarantee matching features. Separate charging, display and data-transfer symptoms.
Check compatibility
The USB-C port, cable and accessory must support the functions you need. Check manufacturer specifications for charging and video output. An underpowered charger or unsuitable cable can limit charging. Test a compatible accessory directly, without a hub.
Describe the symptom precisely
Does the device refuse to charge or charge slowly? Does the monitor fail while file transfers work? Note which port you use and whether the problem happens every time. A precise description helps choose the first diagnostic step.
Change one thing at a time
Start with the device and accessory model details. If you have a known-compatible cable, compare the result. Avoid changing the cable, monitor and port together: otherwise you cannot tell which change helped.
When to stop testing
Disconnect the accessory if the port is loose, visibly distorted, smells burnt or becomes unusually hot. Do not force the plug to stay at an angle or insert metal objects into the port. Have the device inspected instead.
What should you bring?
Bring the device with the cable and charger you normally use. If a dock is involved, note its model. Kmvle, MB agrees the work and price before repairs; a symptom alone is not enough to promise a port replacement.
Practical checklist
- Note the device, charger and accessory models.
- Describe charging and display symptoms separately.
- Stop testing if you notice damage.
Need help?
