Do not assume the files were deleted
A temporary-profile message means the usual user environment did not load correctly. The original folder may remain on disk, but this needs checking. An unfamiliar desktop alone proves neither data loss nor that everything is safe.
Save the current session’s work
Documents created in a temporary session may not persist in the usual way after sign-out. Copy them to an explicitly chosen safe location and open the copy before restarting. Do not delete an old user directory because its name looks duplicated.
Record the circumstances
Note the account type, exact message and recent updates. A business account may depend on an administrator-managed environment. Applying a random registry fix without a suitable backup can modify the wrong profile.
Repair involves more than another account
Documents, application settings and permissions need separate assessment. Blindly copying an entire profile can copy its problem as well. Agree what must be preserved and verify that normal sign-in works again afterwards.
