Slow Windows startup: check startup applications, storage and free space, and learn when a computer assessment in Vilnius is useful.
Identify the stage that is slow
Separate the time before the manufacturer logo, before sign-in and after entering your password. If the desktop appears quickly but applications remain unresponsive, startup applications may be contributing. Note the approximate delay at each stage. One unusually slow boot following an update does not establish a hardware fault. Tell the technician whether the problem appeared suddenly or developed gradually.
Review startup applications
Review Startup in Windows Settings or Startup apps in Task Manager. Disable automatic startup only for familiar applications you do not need immediately; this does not uninstall them. Do not disable security or work tools without understanding their purpose. Change one setting at a time and compare the next boot. This makes useful changes easier to identify and reverse if necessary.
Storage and free space
Check available space on the system drive. Avoid deleting Windows folders at random or using unfamiliar registry cleaners. An older HDD may limit performance, but an SSD must match the computer’s interface and compatibility requirements. Make a separate copy of important documents before migrating storage. If read errors occur or files disappear, protect your data before running further performance tests.
When diagnosis is useful
Reinstalling Windows is not a universal solution. Storage, software or another component could be involved. MB Kmvle in Vilnius can assess the system and upgrade options. We agree the scope and price before beginning work. Provide the model, Windows version and stage of the delay. A single symptom is not enough reason to buy replacement parts.
